As internet access and adoption continue to expand globally, the proportion of non-English web content rises each year. In 2025, English accounts for less than half of all websites for the first time, highlighting the growing diversity of the global user base and the prevalence of content in other languages1. With nearly 200 million websites active today, English-only searches risk excluding more than 100 million sites, potentially overlooking hundreds of billions of pages, images, and videos2. Polysearch helps close this gap by translating your query into the ten most widely used content languages and unifying the top results into one streamlined feed: your personal polyglot researcher.
Born out of my personal need as an indie developer to access more diverse and unique information while researching, Polysearch is a lightweight solution built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on the front end, and Next.js API routes running on Node.js in the back end. It uses third-party translation and search APIs to handle multilingual queries and features a responsive, card-based layout for web, image, and video results, complete with language filters and a custom user interface. You can explore the full source code on GitHub.
Polysearch is an independent research project under active development, aimed at improving access to global content and multilingual search. Planned features include query caching, customizable search preferences, and accessibility enhancements. Privacy is a top priority: no user data is stored, and all translation and search requests are handled without collecting personal information, ensuring that your activity remains private and secure. Feedback is always welcome. If you have suggestions or encounter any issues, feel free to reach out via LinkedIn or contribute directly through GitHub.
